This week, CEPI members are meeting in Poland on the occasion of the general assembly, organised to coincide with our Polish member PREF’s Annual Congress. The Congress of the Polish real estate market is an outstanding event for PREF, its members, friends and other market players, and an opportunity for European professionals to meet, exchange, share practices, start discussions and get together with peers.

This year, DE, the Danish Association of Chartered Estate Agents is celebrating its first 100 years of existence. The Danish trade association for real estate agents was indeed established in 1912, to gather all reputable real estate agents who run real estate by commission, therefore being able to safeguard all members’ business interests and ensure that seller and buyer experience good and effective treatment.

On 21 March the Internal Market and Consumer Protection (IMCO) committee of the European Parliament voted on a report by Lara Comi MEP (EPP, IT) on the European Commission’s proposal for a regulation on standardisation. The report was approved with 36 votes in favour and 2 abstentions. CEPI welcomes the modernisation of the European standardisation process and greater clarity as to the creation of standards.

At the beginning of March, within the framework of our series of interviews "CEPI meets", we asked the European Commission some questions concerning the service - sometimes still not sufficiently known - offered by SOLVIT to European citizens, and its link with the recognition of professional qualifications and the difficulties met by (real estate) professionals who wish to offer their services in other Member States.

The European Commission is looking at the way the Single Market works in practice and in particular at what barriers still exist in Europe. On 27 February it published a “governance check-up” presenting a view of the results of the measures which have been taken so far and reporting on the efforts made since the adoption of the Single Market Act in April 2011. A number of these issues are key to property professionals and are priorities for CEPI.
